KUALA LUMPUR: Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd
(AZRB) will invest between RM12mil and RM15mil in new fuel and potable
water bunkering facilities at the Tok Bali Supply Base in Kelantan.
According
to chief operating officer Datuk Roslan Jaffar, the group would ride on
the oil and gas (O&G) activities around the Malaysia-Thailand Joint
Development Area, as well as the Malaysia-Vietnam Commercial
Arrangement Area.
“The Tok Bali supply
base is expected to create savings to production sharing contract (PSC)
players operating in the areas to refuel and replenish their supplies
due to the short voyage distance.
“Currently, they have to sail as far as Kemaman, also a supply base managed by AZRB, or another supply base in Thailand.
“This
new supply base is expected to complement our Kemaman operations, as it
can get quite congested there,” he told reporters after the signing
ceremony of a sub-lease and throughput agreement between the Tok Bali
supply base and AZRB unit Astral Far East Sdn Bhd.
The
PSC customers who are expected to utilise the Tok Bali supply base
included Petronas Carigali, Hess Exploration, Carigali Hess and
Talisman.
On construction, Roslan
confirmed that the RM1.55bil East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) project
awarded to AZRB would go ahead as scheduled.
It
was reported that the EKVE was one of the projects that could be
delayed prior to the announcement of the Budget 2015 review recently.
AZRB
is also part of the consortium alongside Salcon Bhd and MMC Corp Bhd
that had been awarded an RM993.8mil contract to build the Langat 2 water
project last year.
