KUALA LUMPUR: It is all systems go for Tok Bali Supply Base project and its concessionaire can now proceed to attract oil and gas industry players in its grand plan to create an offshore support activities ecosystem in Kelantan.
Despite a slow start since the project was announced four years ago, Tok Bali Supply Base Sdn Bhd (TBSB) has now secured approvals for its operations from the Ministry of Finance, Royal Customs Department, Marine Department and Petronas for the setting up of the supply base, bonded warehouse, bulk carrier and oil tanker facilities and leasing and rental activities.
TBSB will have invested RM190 million by the end of the year, according to its officials.
According to International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) had set up a task force to facilitate and monitor the development of the supply base in early December last year.
The task force worked with Petronas and other related agencies to assist TBSB in getting the necessary approvals.
The project’s first phase has been completed with an `all-weather’ jetty or wharf covering a length which can provide adequate berthing space for five supply boats.
The supply base will provide a one-stop centre for production sharing contracts (PSCs) and services companies in the Joint Development Area and North Malay Basin oil and gas offshore fields.
