PASIR PUTEH: Aimfora Holdings Sdn Bhd has allocated RM950 million to develop an international Islamic city within five to six years in Tok Bali.
Executive Director Datuk Mohammed Hashbollah said that among the infrastructure to be developed in the city would be the Islamic financial centre, Zheng Ho commercial centre, exclusive housing, city park, medium-cost housing, knowledge centre, Islamic community, floating mosque and Islamic medical centre.
"Basically, the state government has approved 56 hectares nearby the Semarak Canal (in Tok Bali) for the development," he told reporters after attending a briefing on investment opportunities in Tok Bali here Tuesday.
Mohammed said that Aimfora would also engage in projects to develop the Semarak River and Tok Bali Canal besides developing a golf course to trigger tourism in the area.
He added that the project would commence six months from now after land requisition and compensation payment to affected land owners.
Mohammed also said the project would create job opportunities to about 12,000 residents in the area.
He added that foreign investors, especially from Bangladesh, Syria and China have expressed commitment to invest in the area.
